Parrill Wins the Nightmare



Mike Parrill, Sr. made the Nightmare his fourth win of the season and opened his point lead to 50 points Friday night at The Cave. Fast time for the 17 racers on hand was Dwain Welsh at 2.556 seconds. Heat winners were Parrill, Sr., Frenchy Bennington, and Joe Shifflett. The D and C-Mains were won by Greg Poffenberger with the B-Main going to Andrew Tyson followed by JP Welsh and Greg Poffenberger going to the feature. The feature started with a mad scramble for the lead with four drivers taking the lead in the first 10 laps. A Lap 26 pass for the lead put Parrill out front for the first time until Frenchy Bennington took over on Lap 68 and the Frenchy/Parrill shootout was on. The last 35 laps was a barn burner with Parrill taking the lead with 5 to go to hold on for the win. Lap leaders were: JP Welsh - Laps 1-2; Frenchy Bennington - Laps 3-7; Joe Shifflett - Lap 8; Frenchy - Laps 9-25; Mike Parrill, Sr. - Laps 26-67; Frenchy - Laps 68-87; Parrill - Laps 88-89; Frenchy - Laps 90-95; and Parrill Lap 96 to the finish.

Tinsman Tops At The Cave


Jeremy Tinsman picked up his third win of the season Friday night topping an 18 car field. Jeremy time trialed third and won his heat giving him the third starting spot in the night's feature. Other heat winners were JP Welsh and Mike Parrill, Sr. Mikey Franklin won the D-Main and C-Main with Andrew Tyson winning the B-Main taking Joe Shifflett and Tyler Williamson to the show. Jeremy would jump out early and lead until Lap 29 until Tinsman regained the point on Lap 38 and would lead to the checkers. Finishing order was: 1st, Tinsman; 2nd, JP Welsh; 3rd, Mike Parrill, Sr.; 4th, Andrew Tyson; 5th, Tyler Williamson; and 6th, Joe Shifflett.

The Race of Champions, featuring the last six winners at The Cave, was won by Mikey Franklin over 2nd place finisher Jeremy Tinsman, 3rd, Mike Parrill, Sr., 4th, JP Welsh, 5th, Frenchy Bennington, and 6th, Alan Sagi.

In Pure Stocks the one-two punch of Mike and Mikey Franklin struck again. This time it was Daddy Mike snatching the win over Joe Shifflett with son Mikey in 3rd. The S3 of JP Welsh was 4th followed by Alan Sagi and Andrew Tyson. Heat winners were Joe Shifflett, Alan Sagi and JP Welsh. Mike Franklin won the C-Main and the B-Main taking Mikey and Andrew to the feature.

Next up this Friday night will be the 3rd Annual Nightmare 100 Trophy Race (late models only this week). Interest is growing up North for the 1st annual Skyline 100 winged sprint care race scheduled for Saturday, February 10th. I think Mikey Franklin has a ride for this race now along with Rick Williamson with two cars. Let's get going and defend our turf against the invading Yanks!!

Skyline 100 Details Finalized

Details for the Skyline 100 featuring winged sprint cars, scheduled for Saturday, February 10th, at The Cave Speedway have been finalized. Practice will begin at 2:00 P.M. with racing starting at 3:00 P.M. There will be an entry fee of $8 per driver. Pride won't be the only thing up for grabs as 1st place will have a payout of $50; 2nd place - $25; and 3rd place - $15. Plan to come out and support The Cave in its first ever winged sprint car event.

Mikey Gets Third Pure Stock Win

Mikey Franklin got his third Pure Stock win of the season Friday night at The Cave. Second through 3rd was JP Welsh, Mike Franklin, Dwain Welsh, Andrew Tyson and Jeremy Tinsman. Heat winners for the night were JP Welsh and Mike Franklin.

(Mr. Smooth) Frenchy Wins At The Cave


Brad (Frenchy) Bennington topped a sixteen car field Friday night to earn his first career win at The Cave Speedway. Time trialing 8th would give him a 3rd place starting spot in his heat and that is where he would end up, sending him to the B-Main. Heat winners for the night were Mike Parrill, Sr., JP Welsh, and Lee Canfield. D-Main winner was Jeremy Tinsman. C-Main winner was Mikey Franklin. B-Main winner was Bennington as Mike Franklin and Mikey Franklin would also advance out of the B. Mike Parrill, Sr. would lead the first 43 laps of the feature until JP Welsh would get around him and lead until Frenchy took over on Lap 63 and cruised to the checkers. Finishing order: Frenchy, JP Welsh, Mike Parrill, Sr., Mike Franklin, Lee Canfield, and Mikey Franklin. With Frenchy's win the sixth spot for the Race of Champions was completed and the winner will be determined Friday night, January 19th. The Race of Champions features six different feature winners with the winner advancing on to "The Masters Race" which consists of six Race of Champion winners.

Skyline 100 Rescheduled

The Skyline 100 which will feature winged sprint cars at The Cave Speedway has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 10th. Rules and car information will be at the track Friday night with Joe. Congratulations to Joe from all the Cave crew on the birth of his first grandchild. We wish you all the best!

Mikey Gets a Big One (Part 2)



Winning the Earl Grimm Memorial Friday night Mikey Franklin made it two trophy races in a row at The Cave. Setting fast time over 15 other racers put him on the pole for the first heat where he would finish third to winner Lee Canfield. Other heat winners were JP Welsh and Matt Williamson. Winners in the mains were Chris Grimm in the D where all three drivers took a turn at the point before Grimm took over on Lap 37 for the win. C-Main winner, Mike Parrill, Jr., led from Lap 2 to the finish and Andrew Tyson won the B-Main taking Mikey and Mike Parrill, Sr. to the feature. The feature started with JP leading the first 23 laps until Andrew took over until the end of the first 75. After the inversion for the second 75, Mikey would start to roll from 4th place and would take the lead with 5 to go for the win. Finishing order: Franklin, Mike Parrill, Sr., Andrew Tyson, JP Welsh, Lee Canfield, and Matt Williamson. With double points on the line Mikey moves into second place 34 points behind points leader Mike Parrill, Sr.
