Nightmare Pure Stocks-Massey Breaks Through

On a night of first at The Cave Speedway, Brian Massey would add his name to the list of candidates for Rookie Of The Year by topping an impressive 16 car field Saturday night. Budd Ritenauer, looking to make an great night night even better, set fast time with 2.87 seating him on the pole for the first heat. The battle for the lead in the first heat would eventually steal the spotlight however with Greg Hoard and Tyler Williamson fighting it out to the end with Williamson barely edging out Hoard by mere inches. Alan Sagi picked up the win in the second heat leaving the third heat to be won by another first time winner Travis Clark. The last spot in the C main would be filled by Dwain Welsh who qualified through the D. Welsh made it interesting for eventual winner Junior Cooper who the parlayed his C main win by finishing third in the B behind winner Brian Massey and Greg Hoard. It was a steep uphill climb for Massey as he would find himself dueling with both Sagi and Hoard before finally putting a little distance between himself and the rest of the field for the win.
