The Sixth Annual Little World 100 weekend, the Cave Speedway's biggest racing event of the season, is now officially in the books and what a weekend it was.
The ladies kicked off the weekend on Friday night with the Sweetheart 100 ladies only event. Defending champion, Carey Good, two time past champion Vickie Seal, and Doris Parrill were on hand to vie for bragging rights. When all was said and done Seal came out the winner, leading all 120 laps, the only perfect race ever run at The Cave according to track owner, Rick Williamson.
On Saturday the Sprints rolled off at 3:00 p.m. and were the first feature on tap for the day. The field consisted of fast qualifier, Cody, with a lap time of 2.99 seconds. Also on hand were Travis Clark, Alan Sagi, Frenchy Bennington, Bobby Jones, and Brent Hottle. Sagi came out the victor with Hottle finishing second, Jones third, Bennington fourth, Clark fifth, and Cody finishing 6th.
The Phil and Jerry's 600 featuring the Pure Stock class was next in the line up. The line up consisted of Bobby Jones, Travis Clark, Tyler Williamson, Alan Sagi, Kevin Sine, Frenchy Bennington, Brent Hottle and Cody. The extended race, a grueling 600 laps, took its toll on tires and equipment as the competitors tried to hold things together until the end. Kevin Sine won a hard fought battle and claimed the win. The rest of the finishing order was Hottle, Jones, Cody, Clark, Bennington, Williamson, and Sagi. The Cave Speedway would like to thank the fine folks at Phil and Jerry's Meat and More in Smithsburg, Maryland for their support in sponsoring this race.
The final race of the weekend was the Little World 100, the Cave's premier race of the season. Twenty drivers were on hand to try their best to win the coveted Little World 100 title and trophy. Fast qualifier was Junior Cooper with a lap time of 2.42 seconds. The top six qualifiers competed in a Dash and they were Cooper, Jimmy McFarland - 2.44, J. T. Spence - 2.46, Tim Hottle - 2.50, Alan Sagi - 2.53, and Frenchy Bennington - 2.53. McFarland came out on top of the fastest top six. Heat #1 - Cooper, Sagi, Tyler Williamson, Brian Hottle, and Steve Welsh with Sagi winning. Heat #2 - McFarland, Bennington, Cody, Rick Williamson, and Bobby Jones with McFarland taking the win. Heat #3 - J. T. Spence, Mike Nail, Travis Clark, Aaron Seal, and James Marshall with Nail making his way into the feature with the Heat win. Heat #4 - Tim Hottle, Mike Parrill, Sr., Kevin Sine, Brent Hottle, and Dave Williams. Tim Hottle wins. The D-Main winner was Aaron Seal. C-Main winner was Brian Massey. With only the top two transferring to the show the B-Main consisted of Junior Cooper, Cody, J. T. Spence, Mike Parrill, Sr., Tyler Williamson, and Brian Massey. Williamson claims his spot in the feature line up with Cody filling the last position.
The 6th Annual Little World 100 starting lineup was: Alan Sagi, Jimmy McFarland, Mike Nail, Tim Hottle, Tyler Williamson, and Cody. A fierce battle for the title ensued with Sagi and McFarland swapping the lead several times. Williamson fought his way through the crowd to mix it up with Sagi and McFarland but in the end Sagi prevailed with McFarland one lap back. The finishing order was Sagi, McFarland, Williamson, Hottle, Nail, and Cody. (Additional Little World 100 photos can be found in our Photos section.)
The Cave Speedway would like to thank all the competitors for coming out and supporting this event. As usual, there was hard racing at the Cave and every victory was a hard fought one.
The next event scheduled for the Cave is the Bentonville 200 on Saturday, March 5th. We hope to see everyone once again at "The Cave".
